Known in their native Indonesia as Ayam Cemani Walik (meaning reversed) this variation is highly unique with its curly feathers that bend away from their body. Frizzled Ayam Cemani still maintain all classic Ayam Cemani features such as black skin, meat, eyes, nails and feathers. I am one of a very few that are fortunate enough to have these birds in the United States, which are practically unheard of except for in their native Indonesia. Due to the genetics of the frizzled gene, I cannot guarantee the amount of frizzled chicks you will hatch. On average, a frizzled chicken will produce 1/2 frizzled chicks and 1/2 regularly feathered (smooth) chicks. Frizzles should not be bred to frizzles; my current flock consists of smooth Cemani hens over frizzled Cemani roosters.
